Reinvention, Escapism
Noticing that I was drawn to reinvent perception of a material by how I used it; that I was drawn to make organic forms that visually travelled and escaped. The link to me is how I felt not working in a creative field for most of my working life. That you can feel like a fish in a bowl - able to swim but stifled. I think that is why I am drawn to make work that escapes. The work below is created by weaving 'mount-board frames' on aluminium forms that creates sculpture that has momentum. The lower pictures are using stained glass collage projected onto the mounts. This work was displayed in a church.

For me flowers signify moments, special dates, treasured parts of your garden, times of the year, and even important people - all these things trigger memories. To suggest this I paint flowers fading in and out of detail just as our thoughts, creating elements on each canvas to discover and savour, using colour to allow the eyes to gently search the canvas at their own pace.
